My Story

Born in rural Westmoreland, Jamaica, Isheba was unaware of the journey she would endure as she got older. At the age of five she was given the life changing opportunity to move to the capital of Jamaica, Kingston, to live with her grandmother. Life as she knew it would change forever. Although she did not know it then, Isheba would experience something so big that it would shake her confidence, rattle her love for self, and ultimately inspire her peers.

At the age of nine (9) she became visually impaired due to a stranger who threw a bottle filled with water and stone at her. This traumatic experience left her blind in one eye, hurting on the inside, and questioning her existence on Earth. As she matriculated to secondary school the feeling worsened as she was constantly bullied . It was not until one day when she had a very serious conversation with herself, did her outlook on life changed. Isheba realized that being visually impaired changed nothing about her, it did not mean that she could not be all that she imagined and so much more, and it did not mean that she was not beautiful.

In her mission to ensure that no young person in Jamaica felt the way she did, she decided to use the opportunities she has received and her platforms to push positive messages that will motivate young people to love themselves and chase their dreams despite of.

Isheba remains motivated to break all the barriers that have been placed in her life, and inspired to help other young Jamaicans find their purpose while sending the elevator down to someone else.
